    What breed is my rooster?

Conflict in our flock, there was a problem with him and a few of our hens, we were initially planning on selling or giving him away but there is no market for roosters in our area.

    What breed is my rooster?

We recently had to kill our rooster due to conflict in our flock, it was basiclly the only way to stop the stress, and before you get mad or disagree, In our area there is absolutely no market for chickens or roosters. Nobody would have taken him. We just want to find the breed of our rooster.

    Rooster acting weird towards hen?

Yea before she and all the other hens have gone broody she was the alpha hen, they have mated before but now hes just bullying her basically, he moves without her and eats without her, hes just with everyone else, hes attacked her today, were separating him from the flock for a little now.

    Rooster acting weird towards hen?

Currently everybody but the rooster accepts her, the hens don’t mess with her and are normal, the rooster just stares and makes a noise at her sometimes, if he gets close or has an opportunity he chases her, before all the hens went broody, the hen was the alpha hen, i really don’t know what to...

    Rooster acting weird towards hen?

Yea he sure has taken a liking for her, they both grew up together since they were little chicks, the rest of the flock/hens were introduced later down the road. They are both 16 months old (Hen and Rooster) her breed is a black australorp, his breed is not known. And i’m sure that he is, he...

    Rooster acting weird towards hen?

So lately all of the hens were broody, I know crazy... They all broke from their broody phase after not hatching any eggs (we used fakes since they were all broody, after they all left their nesting boxes we noticed that the rooster was a little overwhelmed with all the hens back and active, I'm...

    Hen hatched an egg today

Yea sadly the chick left the general safe area from the hen, the chick was running around for who knows what and the rooster may have seen it as a threat or maybe considered the chick as a weakling. He ended up killing it. One thing i did notice was after i looked at the footage i felt like the...

    Hen hatched an egg today

Thank you so much for the help, I have some unfortunate news however, today the baby chick died to our rooster, based on our camera footage we can safely say that the chick left the hens area and the rooster decided to kill it, not sure why but it happened, I might be blamed i might not, but...

    Hen hatched an egg today

So should I just keep an eye out for more chicks and let the hen raise the rest, if any, alone? What about the rest of the flock, what about the other broody hen trying to hatch eggs, should i worry about any of that?

    Hen hatched an egg today

Yes there are othe eggs, she’s currently still on them with the chick under her belly, they both slept together last night and it’s pretty spaceaus, we ended up moving her into a bigger area, it’s like a big nesting box same shape. Our city has like no predators so honestly we don’t worry too...

    Strange activity with our hen!!

The one constantly on the nesting box has been on there for close to a week in total. We generally don’t want to hatch them but we don’t mind, we only want the one currently on the nesting box to lay.
