@Medodge I'm wondering if the color of your chick will end up being splash?
Splash colored birds usually have white feathers when they first grow in and then gradually get flecks of black or darker gray as they mature more. Plus, the down color on your chick is darker on the head and back than...
I'm so sorry you're having problems with your chick. Unfortunately it sounds like this may be a "failure to thrive" situation. I've had a couple in the past like this that were just weaker or possibly had internal or genetic issues.
I've never hatched my own but when I've brought chicks home...
Here are some pics I got last year of some mamas with their babies. Also one that kinda shows how bad the flies were last year (check out mamas ears.) Didn't see any EHD locally, even though it was really dry.
Yo @mdees88, I want to see what you can do with 12P/Pons-Brooks if you get a chance. It's supposedly 6th magnitude now. I personally haven't spotted it yet but I'll be out the next week with my telescope. I've seen some awesome pictures on spaceweather.com.
I set some game cameras a few weeks ago and checked them this past Sunday. A couple hours before I was there, a bobcat came through! I got a couple nice bucks, along with a spike that lost a horn. The turkeys are coming through, too, the middle of February we had a nice snow that fell on the...
Good info above 👆. I'm sorry I'm off topic from your original question but is the chicken in the cage in your first picture one you were trying to integrate? I can't see it the best but it looks to have a larger comb and wattles and thick legs for being 11 weeks old. Maybe male-specific feathers...
I'm wondering about the ventilation in your coop. It looks like there's a pretty thick frost buildup on the windows (probably inside?) That might indicate not enough ventilation and could increase the risk of your birds getting frostbite in cold weather.
I'm not an expert but I'll take a shot.
1-Silkie (probably white)
2-Gold Laced Wyandotte
3-Old English Game Bantam (probably red pyle)
4-Mille Fleur d'Uccle
5-Golden Sebright
6-Silkie (probably white)
7-Gold Laced Wyandotte
I'm not 100% on the color just because of the lighting.
Earlier this summer we had a lot of rabbits hanging around the house and the (mostly) corn fields nearby. They attracted several hawks that hung around. I walked onto the back porch one day and saw this Red Tailed Hawk swoop down and catch a vole, or field mouse, next to the foundation. I got my...
The last few years I've taken much better care of my teeth but unfortunately some things are unavoidable...I understand the importance of good oral health and I try my best. :) The swelling is going down tonight and the stitches are starting to come out so I'm positive! 👍👍
Thankfully I got into a place and had 2 teeth pulled this past saturday evening. I got a few stitches and I still have some swelling in my jaw but I'd appreciate prayers for the continued and complete healing of my jaw. Thank you to those who thought about me! :)
Is it a bantam? It could very well be a Black Breasted Red Old English Game (bantam) pullet, as they have gender specific coloring on males and females and the tail is cocked higher than a Welsummer pullet's tail should be.
