    New Coop Progress

Yes, the red twig is what I have. I keep th bottom trimmed back so it makes more of an umbrella shape. You will have to protect the base so they don't dig it up. Mine are 2 yrs old and the girls LOVE them. They do get big so maybe just 1 would do.

    New Coop Progress

Plant a couple of dogwood bushes for shade and hiding places. Its great that it will be covered with wire, but they will still want to run for cover. They will need a covered area to get out of the rain besides the coop. Maybe like a lean to off the side of the coop.

Full Sun Exposure Coop - First Timer

Agreed with the screen door. You can interchange the doors. Solid for winter, screen for summer. Just be sure you put latches at the top and bottom so nothing tries to pry it open at the corners. I have a pre-made door and it's kinda flimsy is why I say this.

Yes, if you could top it with a couple of inches of soil and seed it with grass you will never know it's there.

Check out my ultimate chicken coop/run!

Very nice. You will want to close off the nest boxes with cardboard until they are ready to lay. You don't want them to get in the habit of sleeping in those. Also do you have a latch on the nest box?

    Tired of the soupy run!

Ditches, dams, drains, gutters and roofs = dry run thats low or on a slope. I know when you get monsoon rains the battle of the boot sucking mud is real but adding things to the soup will only make your problem worse and stinky. Grab a shovel. Best time to dig is in the rain and you can see...

    Chicken coop plans

X2 on the 1 gallon thing. Works great for me also in winter. We only use the big waterer when we go on vacation so the sitter does not have to fool with water.
