Yay! That's great news! I'm glad the VetRX is working for you! I've had mixed results with it.
It's so empowering when we are able to treat and repair our animals ourselves!
Yes! I recommend pine shavings too. It's all I use for duck bedding because it doesn't get moldy. Any feed store should carry it by the bail. And a deep clean and airing out of the coop will help too.
And if the vet is an option, I definitely think it's time to see them.
Amazon has it, but sadly the won't sip it to me in Hawaii. I mix it 6.5 oz per gallon of water. I e been misting their pen with it daily after cleaning it and it has eliminated the smell which I'm very happy about. I also noticed one of my girls has some pretty big pressure sores on the bottoms...
Keep us posted. And read up on using Oxine! We just got over a rainy period here and I heard a few sneezes. I've been misting the ducks with the Oxine solution a couple times a day and it seems
to have cleared it up 😊
Maybe keep an eye on her a couple of days and see how she does. From my experience, it's one bird that gets it at a time, maybe 2. But thankfully I've never had the entire flock sick with respiratory stuff at once.
I have 5 runner ducks and have been through so many respiratory problems with them. All the respiratory infections I've dealt with started with the squeak sneezes and progressed to hoarseness, more sneezing etc. if the vet is an option I would highly recommend it. If not, you can try medicating...
I have tried both... Chloe who is 3 now went broody and hatched 11 babies last summer. I thought "this is great! She will take a break from laying and molt those sticks!" No luck. A week after hatching day she was back to laying. Still no wing molt. Maybe these ducks are just ridiculously overly...
I'm so glad I found this thread! I've been having the exact same issue with my Runner girls. I live in Hawaii, so we don't get "winter" here. I have 4 runner girls and a drake. The oldest is 3 years old now and has never molted her flight feathers- they looks like old toothpicks. My other two...
I have 4 female runners and mine are prolific layers. I have found that no matter what I do, their egg laying doesn't slow down, so the only way to manage it is to give them tons of extra nutrients. If they have laying troubles, I add a few ml of calcium gluconate to their food, just to...
Thank you so much! I just ordered a gallon of the stuff. Now I need to get a fogger/sprayer off Amazon. I really hope
this helps prevent their respiratory problems from recurring
Do you just put the Oxine AH on a spray bottle and spray it on them and in the coop or do you water it down? My ducks always seem to be respiratory stuff and I'd love to find something that helps that is not antibiotics. Sorry I have so many questions! But if I try something new o want to be...
