chickens can be so smart at times and then go and freak out and act like the world is ending because they forgot how to go around an open door to get inside.
My guess is that it is a combination of two things-
1. It is her first time going broody and may need a bit to figure out how to actually sit on eggs
2. A lot of silkies seem to be lacking in the brain department.
The thing is that the way USPS runs, packages aren’t actually seen by a person 90% of the time. The processing machines scan the bar codes and make shipping updates available while sorting the packages. It can’t differentiate between a package of chick food and a package of live chicks.
And to me at least, neither cackle or USPS should be blamed. How do you think cackle is supposed to provide food and water? That is going to lead to dead chicks a lot faster than not providing them. Water splashes and gets the food wet. The wet food then molds and with high humidity from the...
This is not true. Reptiles are shipped nearly exclusively through fedex. And this doesn’t apply to anything. My dad has toured multiple FedEx facilities for business reasons and has told me how there were chicks running all over the place during one of them.
No problem. Just remember that because Brahmas are slow to mature, I would wait until 10 weeks to make the final call. But with how little comb comb development there is, I wouldn’t be worried about it
