Yes, I do know that. Thank you. I used to have to offer egg shells ground small for thin egg shells but don't anymore and I believe it's the Klaumbach feed that's helping. In my post one was a question the other a statement.
I think I was wondering if I should be using all flock or grower feed.
I have used straw (winter) , and pine chips for absorbing rain. I have a uncovered run. It's created a very hard floor and if I try to clean it and dig some it smells really bad. So I quit digging and only rake it once in a while and add wood chips in the summer months when it rains. They appear...
I've used Klaumbach seed mix for the past year and have now switched to grower feed because of the pullets Mama hatched out. It seems to me from reading this thread I should keep them on grower feed. Correct? Or even all flock since I have a Rooster. I'm a bit confused I guess. Offering calcium...
It was chaos in the run after posting this thread.
2 of the baby chicks began fighting and there was blood. I removed one and brought it home. I washed his wound (right under his eye) and set it up in the living room. Small house.
I'm if the opinion that these are 2 cockerels. I've dealt with...
First, the BO gets along fine with everyone, she's lowest on the PO. She was raised with the Roo and appears to be one of his favorites.
Second, I believe the SLW would be fine without the BO as she's been there longest by 2 yrs and the BO one year.
I'm probably going to have to wait and see if...
So, I have a SLW that is relentless with bullying my BO. Her back is bare and raw. I put Peck no More on her but it hasn't helped.
I've got the bully in a separate coop and small run now for 3 days and she's stressed. She paces back and forth constantly. I'm wondering if I should put her in a...
We have lift off! Mama has taken her new babies outside to teach them how to forage. It's the cutest thing I've ever seen. This is what I've wanted all along. Breed my own flock.
Barred Rock crossed with a Buff Orpington Rooster. I'm thrilled!
I'll do that. Thanks!
I checked the eggs. There were chicks but the eggs were ice cold so I threw them out. She hasn't been sitting on them at all. Her attention was completely on her babies. Sad in a way.
I moved the 4 remaining eggs under Mama but when I checked on her about 30 minutes later she wasn't actually sitting on them. Maybe she's not interested anymore. Not sure what to do now.
We have babies!!!!!! Hooray!!!! So far 4. I put out a bit of water and introduced them to it along with some food. I'll keep checking in on them. I'm thrilled!
It was right after Easter when I let her start sitting on the eggs. She had 4 at that time. It wasn't long, like a couple of days that she ended up with 8 eggs. So any day now I would think. I didn't candle any eggs, I was afraid of disturbing her too much. Probably should have tho. It's been 26...
Ok, nothing as of yet. I'll give her a couple more days.
How do I cut his nails? Also she's the lowest rank. I've noticed my Windote pecks at her roo. Of course she pecks at most of my girls. They tolerate her.
