Got my spring chicks Wednesday! :wee
We had one free surprise chick. These are from McMurray hatchery. I didn’t order any feather footed so this little guy doesn’t fit in.
Feet are yellow so my guess is Blue Cochin bantam.
Anyone else have a guess?
Thanks in advance
Hello all. I’m hoping to add some Brabanter to my flock. I would love to hear everyone’s experiences and perhaps where to acquire some chicks or eggs
Thank you
So wandering the forums and doing some searching, anyone know of this breed is obsolete? I have WTBs and love them. I’m a huge fan. But curious about the Arkansas blues that originated with Dr Whitings birds.
Really cute hen my neighbor help catch/rescue. (The owner said she didn’t want to keep her). I assume a mix but any guess on which breeds? She is small maybe bantam plus. She has a pea comb and white legs.
I posted this in breed discussion. I’m hoping some of the gender gurus chime in here. I think I’m Beginning to accept the reality.
I have 6 “sexed” pullets, Whiting True Blues. These two have combs that have gotten my attention.
Alrighty my friends. Can you tell me why this hen has lost all her fluffy but? She is not the bottom of the pecking order. No one else has this issue. She had some “pastey butt” four weeks ago. She just finished a mini molt. Any education appreciated.
I’ll preface this with I’m new to chickens. I have 7 chicks from April. Now pullets. 4 Cuckoo Marans and 3 GLW. I believe all are laying. Though one Wyandotte seems to be laying all soft shelled. And perhaps two in one day. Has anyone heard of that.
I purchased 3 “Gold Laced” Wyandotte’s from a hatchery 4/6/2020 (22 weeks). Day old pullets. After much research I’m wondering if I have two GLW and one Black Laced Red Wyandotte (which I didn’t know existed until researching color variations). What are y’all’s thoughts?
I’m really enjoying learning all things chicken. My medical background makes me really curious about specific genetics. Is there anyone out there who has the time to explain (and post pics, I’m a visual learner) of the reasons and examples of double barring vs single barring.
Thank you so much
We have three 10 week old GLW. This one is beautiful but different than her sisters. They are hatchery chicks. She is not dominant and runs from the 8week old chicks still. She often carries her tail high. That was my first concern. I’m learning so Please teach me.
