    Reintroduce chicken back to flock.

My polish was attacked by a hawk and thankfully survived. It's been 7 days and I put her back out with the flock. (I only have 6 total, all hens). They won't stop chasing and pecking her. She's been hiding up on the roost and they won't even let her down to eat or drink. What can I do? I...

    Hawk attack/isolation (bloody image)

One of my chickens was attacked by a hawk last Friday. She's been in isolation ever since and is healing great. (Pic is from the day it happened) My question is when can she go back to the flock? When is she considered healed? She's not liking being alone. She lost quite a lot of feathers on...

    Who laid these??

So these are our first eggs....any idea who could have laid them? I have a barred rock, a few easter eggers, polish and two were labeled "Ameracauna".

    Hens not laying?

I have hens that are 23 weeks old today...and they have yet to lay a single egg. They are inside a run during the week and only free range on weekends when im home...so i know they arent hiding them. Im in Georgia so its between hot and cold every other day. Could that be why? Like this past...

    Barnevelder roos need a home

Barnevelder roosters up for discussion in Walton County, Georgia. 22 weeks old. They free range a lot. They are friendly. I dont hold my chickens so they arent used to being held. We never intended to have roos (thanks TS) but we wanted to raise them as long as we could. But now its...

    Water everywhere/free range

Ive been free ranging my chickens for about 2 months now (a few hours a day, or all day on weekends). The only water they have is inside their run, but now im worried should i have water containers around my yard as well? Or do they just walk back to the run when they get thirsty? Ive never...

    Wattles and combs?

Meet Bowie and Not Bowie haha I've been told on here that one of these is a cockerel (with the whiter tips on his hair). They are 17 weeks now. What age will they get wattles and combs if he is in fact a roo? Do all roos get those no matter the breed or are polish different? My other...

    Sex of these?

Can anyone tell me the sex of these?? They fight like roosters all the time. My other hens never fight with their feet like these do.

    Is this just baby fluff?

My roo has these fluffy feathers coming out...he's 12 weeks old...I don't see mites or anything down in there. Is this just him losing all his baby fluff?

    Mixed ages free ranging

I have some 8 week chicks and some 6 week chicks that have lived together for over 2 weeks now. They get along fine. No pecking or hurting. But they never "mingle". Each age group stays with each other. I've recently started letting them free range while I'm outside...and the oldest stay...

What type of polish do we have?

The two in the back obviously..they aren't "laced" I don't think...do they have a specific name for their coloring? (4 weeks old)

    What now?

We put our 6 week olds and 4 week olds together yesterday. We put them straight into the run and sat out with them for about 2 hours watching. A few pecks, but mostly it went fine. No aggression or chasing or anything. After a few hours the youngest went inside the coop and haven't come out...

    I know it's early but....

These are my 2 barnevelders. The black chest one ( pics 1 ,2 and 4) I think is a roo and the other (with patterned chest) a hen. Any opinions?? I can't tell a difference in feathers at all. I just am going off the different chest appearance. They are almost 7 weeks old

3 week olds with 5 week olds

Best way to introduce them to each other? I guess technically we already did when the littlest first came home...we put them in the brooder together supervised, but just for a few days, not every day. But now the 5 weekers are in the coop and the 3 weeks are still in the brooder. Another week...
