Not quite what I was asking about! Just asking what breeds are homozygous for blue egg genes rather than hetero. I already have the roosters that I need. It was more so for picking the right hen. I’m breeding for green and don’t want brown eggs popping up down the line. Thanks though.

If anyone has ever crossed Welsummer to a black copper maran. I would love to see what the offsprings eggs turned out to look like? Thanks!

Do they carry two copy's of the Blue egg gene?

Hey all What breeds lay blue eggs and have two copies of the blue egg gene. I want to start a breeding project but want to make sure I'm selecting the right birds. I know true Americana and Araucana both do. Just un- sure the other blue of layers out there.

Was supposed to be a black australorps. Has a pea comb by the looks of it.

These two came out of a shipment of Black Sexlink and black Australorps. They clearly aren’t either. The thick leg with light feathering is throwing me. They aren’t big enough to be a Cochin or Brahma. Could it be a Maran or French Maran of sorts? 7 weeks old.

I have an Americauna Roo, that is blue cuckoo. Is this a pure-breed like he was supposed to be? I recently read that Americauna are usually solid in color. Would breeding him with my Blue Americauna hen give show quality birds?

Americauna Hen crossed with Buff Orpington Roo would this give me Easter a Egger chicks? I also have Easter Egger Hens that I could cross with my Roo. Would that still give me colored egg layers?

Are there any names associated with these barnyard mixes? I know one you often hear is sussington for Sussex/ Orpington.
