Yes, we will definitely need to re-roof what is there currently, and then extend the roof onto the "addition" (front 4 feet). We are coastal, so I'm always trying to be cognizant of materials that will hold up in the salty air, but I do have a love for metal roofs. It is very temperate here...

This is great advice - thank you so much! This may be a dumb question, but how do you weatherproof the ventilation? Just by making sure you have a long enough overhang from your roof?

Good to know - I’d much rather only have two, anyway! Would you then add a roost bar that runs the entire 8’ length? Or just a partial bar along that wall? Love this idea - had not even considered a bar going lengthwise.

We are working to convert this old Redwood play set into a chicken coop. Dimensions are: 4’ wide, 8’ long, and 8+’ tall (the 4x4s are 8’ so the total to the tip of the roof is 10’ish). Your run looks amazing! I am also looking to build an 8x16 run, but have been having a hard time finding plans that don't have support in the middle of the run (if that makes sense). Do you by chance have plans for this?
