Well we have a lot of Amish folks and farms around, they'll go to good use if I end up rehoming them. Will probably wait a month and see what to do. I really want to see that green iridescent head at this point. Maybe I'll end up keeping one
They're 8 weeks. They have the scalloped pattern to their tail feathers too. Lol just waiting for that curled feather now. Ho boy i have no use for them! I didn't want fertilized eggs or ducklings down the road 😕 😔 or drakes pestering my ladies.
They do sound a bit raspy, yes. Man I knew it! Their bills at day 1 didn't have the spot, and I knew that the hatchery didn't have female available for that day. So I was wondering why they shipped them so early. What the heck man. I didn't want any drakes......may have to reevaluate now
Sooooo I actually took a close look at them today, and I think they may both be drakes!!! I am in a bit of a state of shock, because I definitely ordered females.........their bills have actually gotten lighter since the last picture. By this time last year with my other welsh females their...
So I ordered two female welsh harlequins this year......confirmed on invoice today that I hadn't accidentally ordered straight run. Ummmmm are both my hens actually drakes? They're 8 weeks and by this time my welsh hens from last year already had dark bills and darker feet and whiter heads...and...
Oh wow that coop setup is amazing!!! I need to convince my hubs to build that 😩
Here's mine! I am excited for the coloration on my welshies one has just this gorgeous deep brown i love it. And I love Sunny's saxony racing stripe. Mags the magpie is definitely the most flighty, so the metzer...
Hi all, I am wondering if anyone knows if the hard sided plastic dog crates are predator proof for overnights while we build our predator proof run/coop. We have 2 ducks in a snap lock formex and that thing is racoon proof, there's bite marks to prove it. Would a dog crate as a temp overnight...
So I had to clean off some hard dried poo from my smallest chicks vent. And I feel like her vent top lip "pokes out" more than it should? She has had some poop accumulation that I've been combating. Is this ok? The other chicks vents are like 'innie" bellybuttons, and this one cause of the poor...
Thank you so much for your input! I will clean and wash the water every time I clean out/refresh. I'm used to attempting to keep a duckling brooder clean so far i must say these chicks are clean little things! I am loving the differences between them already, its fun!
Well the will peck droplets off my fingers just fine, and also they loooooooved eating some mash. So idk. I dip the beaks and they just give me a "wtf" look. Haha. I will try again in the morning I guess.
I guess I am just used to ducklings. Man you dip those beaks and they are go time ready...
K, this is what my new set up is. I went and got a lamp cause I am just a nervous newbie. Now I'm scared I'll fry them. But they seem to be moving around more and pecking at stuff, and I saw some poops. I still feel like they aren't finding the water well. But I gave them the nutrient hydrogel...
I mean the plate itself is like 116F, and they are pressing their backs against it. The towel below reads 84F. Isn't that similar to what people do when they use heating pads?
