Yes. Sweet potato. As in, the same sweet potato you grow in your garden. I figured this would be a useful way to preserve some slips so that as soon as the last frost is over in the spring, I can immediately start some slips outside. I also have tried this with wild tomato that is naturalized...

I think my Cranwell's 40 gallon turned out well. Two bluegill and a mouse in 3 days. The little ornate is growing and never seems to run out of room. My daughter's Cranwell is developing a nice camp color.

My two pacman froglets are doing well. They’re both mostly eating vertebrates now. I won’t post the pics, but the one eating the green locust prefers green treefrogs. Both frogs enjoy young mice. The frog with the green stripe on the middle is large enough to eat the second pacman.

The green tri-stripe Cranwell is the one I got the other day. This wild-phase Cranwell is one I just picked up this evening. The trim-stripe is about as big as a silver dollar. The wild-phase is the size of a nickel. The wild-phase is a lot more voracious than the tri-stripe.

I didn't go to Repticon, but I did go out-of-state and I found a shop that had a good selection of froglets. They didn't have any ornatas, but they did have some healthy looking cranwelli specimens, so I came home with one. So far so good. I have an ornata on order.

Repticon is coming to Jacksonville next week. That’s a reasonable driving distance from me. I’m going to try to go and look for an ornate pacman (or two).

    Reptile Lover’s Thread!!

My daughter’s turtle is currently in a 10 gallon. Its about time to upgrade to a 20 gallon long, so I’ve ordered everything I need to do that and then convert the 10 gallon to a terrarium for a pacman frog. I’ve also done some research and confirmed that the ornata species is recognized by...

Very beautiful. My brother recently got into the hobby via his daughter’s leopard gecko and bearded dragon. I’ve never owned either.

    Reptile Lover’s Thread!!

I have theory that many reptile, amphibian, and fish species that have been captive bred for several generations have in fact been domesticated and now represent slightly different animals than their wild counterparts. Which I think is great, but where we often don’t think in those terms for...

    Reptile Lover’s Thread!!

Somehow I never saw this thread. Herps are my favorite animals, although you would guess it was birds and fish, and nearly all my life I’ve kept more of those groups. I was deep into the reef tank hobby until I got out of grad school. But my favorite pet was a pacman frog I had from the third...
