Due in part to my outdoor growout setup for mine- they’re using the bottom portion of an unused two story coop- and holy cats getting them back out again is terrible. My sweet ducks do not want to come to me to be easily picked up so forcing them out means being scary and awkwardly crawling in...
Trying to decide if I can take them off heat indoors yet. We’re close and the indoor setup I need to upgrade them to for space reasons is much easier without needing a cord.
Typing this- they are 4 weeks old today? So yeah. Doing it.
When I raised several rounds of runners it seemed like three weeks would be early for quacks but I did have it start then occasionally? Maybe more like 5 weeks-ish?
That makes sense, and I’ll only do the jug now that these girls are quite big.
I lost a beautiful bantam last fall to a water bucket 😭 She was full grown but somehow must have decided she couldn’t get out and died of the cold, not drowning because she was right size up 😭😭😭
I’ve only treated splayed leg in chicks, not ducklings yet, but so glad you jumped on treating right away.

Not yet, I started big but now it is small!
Can I see how you cut your jug?
I am so happy with waterer on a tray with pee pad this go round. It’s barely stinky.
I need to figure out more outside time soon, we got to this at the end of the day and they’re so happy!
@Tookie We’re just at two weeks as of yesterday, correct? I remembered ducklings grow very fast but holy moly 😅
Ahhhh I wasn’t able to see my ducklings much yesterday. Just got to snuggle them today and they’re suddenly huge, and markedly more comfortable with me 🥰
