You’re very welcome! As long as Azula’s eating enough throughout the day (it sounds like she’s eating whenever she wants), don’t worry about it. She’s eating as much as she feels like eating while she’s ill. If Azula wasn’t eating, then you should be concerned. Continue with the protein, like...
Since the vet says Azula is underweight, that can be fixed. And, he/she is being treated for the respiratory infection, so maybe Azula just isn’t eating a lot due to feeling under the weather. Continuing the medication and giving more protein for weight is going to get Azula well again. It...
The medication will work in time. If you need to “up” their protein… just a suggestion… you could try some gamebird feed. It’s 30% protein. That will help Azula put some weight on.
Sorry to hear that they’re a bit under the weather. I’m sure the vet will give them great care, and they’ll be feeling better soon. And, they’re getting so big! The feathering is really coming along! Let me know what the vet says. 🥰
I’m confident you’re going to figure it out! As an adult rooster, it would be a good idea to have him with a group of hens rather than only Ty Lee. That way, they’ll be other hens to distract him. More hens means more Avatar names! ☺️
Azula is showing all of the signs of a cockerel, but don’t worry about Ty Lee getting bothered too much while they’re this little. They’ll want to play fight. Some of my Serama cockerels do it a little right now (they’re about the same age), but it’s natural. They’re actually more interested in...
The sock looks like a good idea. ☺️ Years ago, I had an Easter Egger, Molly (there’s a photo of her in my BYC Member Interview), that I diaper-trained. She did really well with it. I bought that one though. Good sock diaper idea!
I think they’ll be fine. The photo doesn’t really show anything alarming. Their droppings won’t always look the same. My first guess would be that they’re taking in more water. The girls look very healthy. Just keep an eye on the droppings, but they’ll probably be back to normal tomorrow.
