One of my chicks just hatched and just as I suspected was the chunkiest chick I've ever had. It has fat rolls, giant body, chubby feet and an adorable face. Thus the name, chunky. It always did look bigger than a normal embryo.
Did you hear any of yours chirp before pipping? I did. For some reason these chicks from my silkies seem to be loud and very noisy before even pipping and seem to just like to wake me up. But I wouldn't want it any other way.
Though that egg was taken at 12 days old. Now it is day 16. I still don't believe how big that embryo was. I mark them down the day I get them so that was very strange to me. Also can't see in the egg anymore.
