July 2014 I had my first two hens go broody at the same time. I let them set on a clutch of 10 eggs each donated from my other laying hens. When they started to hatch only my Ameraucana hen hatch went well, she got about 9 from hers. The Black Austrolorp only hatched 2 out of her hatch,so I gave her 2 chicks to the other mom and set her on another clutch. In August she hatched 9 chicks out of 10 eggs ,but sadly the smallest and cutest died 1 week later. Out of 19 total baby chicks I got 8 pullets and 11 Roosters..I gave away 10 of the Roosters and kept 1 that looked to be Ameraucana - Welsummer mix, he is turning out to be a Beautiful Rooster.
