We free ranged our birds, and lost one here and there over the last year, but felt that was acceptable. However this spring, a family of at least five hawks moved in and we lost five birds in two weeks!

Yeah your red looks mixed for sure - but don't worry, she will most likely lay better than a heritage, though not for as many years. My red mixes are the friendliest of my bunch, they will jump in your lap. :)
