I have 2 black leghorn hens and a splash leghorn hen, I recently lost my black leghorn rooster before being able to breed from him. The only leghorn rooster near me is a white. If I get him, a genetics calculator I was looking at says if I breed the next generation roosters to my current hens I...
I have 3 Australorp and 9 SLW eggs due on the 29th so a few days early. I also have 3 Indian Runners, 3 Cayugas and 2 Pekin x Rouens under a clucky hen due a week late though
I'll be putting a few duck eggs in the incubator once the ones in there finish hatching but it'll be a few days late. I will also add about a dozen chook eggs after a week. New Years is also my birthday so hopefully I get a couple around that time.
Thank you for this. 2 more questions please, roughly how many generations can you breed blues for without it being too much a problem? And do you just breed the blue back to the black for one generation or does it take a few to get a better colour?
Can anyone post a photo of a diluted blue australorp? I hear all about how breeding blue to blue too often will cause them to become diluted but I've never seen any photos.
Thanks in advance
Anyone else's ducks afraid of them? I've hand raised half of these ducks and they still think I'm going to kill them when I go near them :th. Trying to get adorable photos of them yesterday because I hardly have any and they're all just blurs that barely look like ducks. I'm not sure how you...
Those ducklings are all very cute guys.
This thread seems to be the best place for this instead of starting a new thread altogether.
I have 2 cayuga drakes and need to get rid of some drakes. One of the drakes is perfect. Looks more blue and green than black, black bill and legs. His only...
I have a Peachick that's about 4 months old. She currently can't hold her head up but is still fighting and I want to give her a chance. I was sitting with her holding her head up all day yesterday and now again this morning only stopping for me to sleep last night.
I think that if I were to...
Yes, I know the risks of free ranging but I hate locking my animals in the pens.
Once I get the stuff I can. My entire family is currently in iso with covid so can't get to town and where we live no where delivers.
I know I said I'd cull her but she has such a fight in her I couldn't do it yet. That being said, do you think a sling that holds her and her head up would work? If yes, how would I go about making it?
I've been sitting with her all day holding her and when her head is up in a normal position...
Thank you
She just had a fit or something. Head started jerking heaps. Sadly I think I might have to cull her. I'll give her a bit more time for improvements because she doesn't seem to be in pain but her end is near I think.
Thank you
The furthest inside I can get her is the laundry which is still pretty cold but better than outside
She's had a bit to drink when i dipped her beak in and she done the drinking action as well as she could.
So I know this one will most likely die because I think I was too late in finding her. But can anyone give me ideas as to what went wrong? She's about 3-4 months now and hasn't shown any signs of weakness at all in that time. Her 3 hatch mates are seemingly fine so far. Today I found her half...
I have some photos but not very good ones. I like to get photos of them so that I have lots of records of them. Plus, they're cute so their photos need to be taken anyway. They're on my phone though and I'm on the computer right now so I'll put them on later. Can't wait to see your pictures of...
