I’m traveling and just got a call from my spouse that something got one of my newer girls, a darling little frizzle named Cannoli. She was a good bird, and had just started laying pretty green eggs.
I feel really sad, and guilty that I’m away and that something about our setup put her at risk...
Update: I massaged her crop a little bit and she made sort of gurgling sounds and then “spit up” in perhaps five places, very small amounts of the frothy brown goop. I waited about an hour and went to check on her and she had pooped several times. I inspected the poop and it seemed normal and I...
Thank you, I will read those ASAP. Not sure about her crop emptying, I just noticed her symptoms this morning but I'll report back tomorrow. I have not ever dewormed the birds.
My ~5 month old bantam frizzle Cannoli is sick. She has not yet started laying. I have seven chickens total and the rest seem fine. I did not check on the birds yesterday so I just noticed something was off a couple of hours ago.
I'm noticing the following symptoms:
Very hard, but movable crop...

I noticed this evening that one of my pullets has a yellow spot on her foot that appears slightly swollen. Does this look like the beginnings of a bumble foot infection or something else?
And if it is, what are my next steps?
Note: she’s walking normally and not limping. Sand bedding in the...
My EE pullet, about six months, has this grey spot on the top of her comb that just appeared in the last day or two. We have no roosters and I don’t notice much if any pecking between my hens. I think she is approaching her first lay quickly. She’s acting normal and silly as usual.
Any ideas...
I'm so excited! My all white EE just laid her very first egg! It's the first egg from my flock! I noticed recently she started doing that little squat thing when I would try to pet her, and also that her comb got a bit larger and more red, but it's a pea comb and very tiny still.
Today I...
Great idea!
Also if you all can believe it, I had them out playing in the yard a bit before dusk and one of them decided they’d had enough and went back to the run and right up into the coop. Then the rest followed!
I gave em a few mealworms inside to sweeten the deal.
Naughty fickle birds!
