HELP! Chicks prefer Wyze Cam as a Brooder Instead of K&H Brooder

my husband just reminded me that I did speak to the chicks through the camera when we were away the other day. Maybe this is why? Associating my voice with the camera? I "baby" talk to my new chicks :) It does seem to mark when they began this behavior.

HELP! Chicks prefer Wyze Cam as a Brooder Instead of K&H Brooder

Well I took the Wyze cam out of the enclosure and placed it outside the door so I could still kinda see in there if I started to worry. Those little stinkers first went under the brooder plate but then abandoned it for snuggling up to the door as close as they could get to the Wyze camera lol...

HELP! Chicks prefer Wyze Cam as a Brooder Instead of K&H Brooder

My chicks are 1 week old today. Last night I caught them sleeping around my WYZE cam which I have in the brooder. It doesnt get very warm ( I can hold it in my hand without it burning me), but they all pile on top of it or around it. I took this, of course, as a sign to raise the brooder which...

I am going to turn the heating pad off and see if that helps. I would rather see them snuggled up under there, but they are usually all sprawled out

Question about Pasty butt: Vaseline Causing chicks to dig at butts

Thank you. I have been checking twice a day so I can make sure I catch it since this is very common with shipped chicks, which I have. One chick has had a little residual poop around her vent each day but I have just watched it closely and not acted. Today it was more visible and so I took...

Can I use a warm wet cottonball to remove the vaseline? Or will I now have to use soap to get it off?

Question about Pasty butt: Vaseline Causing chicks to dig at butts

No one really had pasty butt but one was starting to get a build up which made me over-react likely. As I applied the vaseline, it actually made the poop slide off the vent that had accumulated there. She is a very active girl and actually wore herself out afterwards preening her vent. I felt so...

Question about Pasty butt: Vaseline Causing chicks to dig at butts

Brand new to chickens here. I cleaned my 4 day old baby chicks' butts and put a small dab of vaseline on their vent as prevention as recommended by others. But now everyone is really "digging" at their vents and seem uncomfortable :( Should I wash it off of them? I dont want them to be miserable...

Please Help: Coop Design Considerations For Silked Easter Eggers

I found a local who is building us a Chicken Coop. I have never owned chickens but have been nerding out on everything I can get my hands on. The coop will be started in about 2 weeks and so I have time to request a change if its needed. I will post pictures below. The breed I have chosen are...

I just ordered 4 females from MPC at $66 a piece :) And I'm happy to pay it. I believe they were priced so high because I wanted sexed girls. A silkie with the hopes of laying a blue egg? YESSSSS! These will be my first chickens ever. Coop being built now. I'm super eggcited hehe. I read the...
