Duck hatching eggs for first time- I have questions

I have no idea. I know the duck has been sitting on the eggs for about a month and when I candle them it looks like the eggs are all different stages of development. I'm just letting her handle them I'm sure she knows more what she is doing than I do. She gets off the neat twice a day to eat and...

Strange, dying chicken noises and flapping?

I have a hen who also does this! The first time I saw it she was close to my pen of new babies, I thought this was making her do it....she does it once or twice a week now even when not around the babies! I have a video of it, its wild looking for sure! How do I post video in a reply??

Duck hatching eggs for first time- I have questions

Sounds like a good idea, thanks! I checked on them this afternoon and noticed one of the eggs has cracks at the small end of the egg so I'm hoping it doesnt end up dieing. I may try to out Elmer's glue on it tomorrow when mama goes to eat.

Loved reading this! My chickens will not use a pole of any kind to roost. I use hay bales stacked up in my lot and they love it. They can sit comfortably to roost at night and it helps keep them warm. I put shavings on top and clean then every couple days.

Best bedding for wet muddy run

I personally use pine shavings from tractor supply. I find the bigger flake ones work best for me in the coop. It keeps the ground from being a sloppy mess and absorbs decent. I add a new bag full once a week. I also have 2 adult pekin ducks who are poop machines!! The pine shavings are a life...

All day yesterday everything was good she held her neck up more although she would still keep her neck down alot. Last night...

I always come here for help long before a vet! Having farm animals we learn to take care of most things ourselves, and most vets send you home and tell you how to handle things anyway. The majority of us here know when it's a true vet emergency! I would be lost without BYC!!

Thank you for everyone who offered advice!!! Today my baby is much better! I have e held her alot since last night and each time I massaged her little neck, she would close her eyes and go to sleep. I am not sure how she ended up upside down and think from struggling to right herself she wore...

I have 3 baby khaki ducklings, 5 weeks old. This evening I found one of the upside down on her back and she could not right herself. I stood her up and now she is very out of it. She couldnt have been that way at most an hour since I last checked them. Now she will not extend her neck out, she...
