I have the same thing for sale! We hatched way too many this year. I would rather have them all go to someone who loves the breed and wants to continue improving it rather than someone who just wants a pretty chicken.

Guess it woukd have been easier to have an opinion on whether he was the best choice or not if I'd attached the picture of the other cockkerels. LOL

This is the cockerel I used this time. Any opinions are more than welcome.

Thanks so much. This was a test hatch for fertility and to see if I had chosen the best cockerel to give me the improvements I'm looking for. I figured that the 4 toe was something that would pop up on occasion, but didn't know if it was more of a fluke that happens from the unknown genetics...

Breeding question for you more experienced in Faverolles than me :) I have four LF pullets and a cockerel that I hatched from SQ eggs from a breeder in NV. Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

We have a Silkie like that. Sweet as can be......unless she's broody. When I hear that growl from her I respect it and toss some corn to her. She is a mean broody but keeps her babies safe.

You have far more important things to think about right now. Don't fret about getting the squares out. Take care of your family.

That's one of the things I find so intriguing about this breed. LOL Of course, we also have a frizzled naked neck Silkie. The strange ones will fit in well here. :)
