Where are you located?I have 3 females and 1 male still available for sale this Fall. the male and 2 females are from this May (2014) hatch and the other female is from last year's hatch...They are fully flighted and regular colored. I bought a pair of whites this Spring, so I want to downsize...

They'll fly away if they are free, and if they are pinioned, predators will get them easily. We keep ours penned up, double layers of netting over the top, and fully winged so they can fly inside their pen.

My Mama and her babies are still very hidden and they hatched on Mother's Day...they run to the shelter of the big dog house (attached to their pen) if I go toward the end where their branches and cover are...or they stay hidden under all the cover if I am at the end where the pool and shelter...

Meanie hatched 9 chicks in all- she had 11 eggs, but 1 died in the shell after it zipped...1 didn't develop. Pretty good hatch rate I think. Better than in the incubator! Here are a few pics I just took:

My 1st Mandarin who sat on eggs dropped one of hers in their pool, and there was a tiny undeveloped duckling inside it. So I didn't SEE HER do it, but I think she must have...she hardly ever left her nestbox so I doubt anyone else got in there and took that egg. my 2nd Mandy mama is on eggs...

I love this thread...lots of broody Mamas and their babies. Here is my contribution for today...This is 'Meanie' mama and her 1st baby to hatch. Such a sweet looking little chick, as soon as she saw me, she burrowed under Meanie's wing and disappeared. There are more peeping noises under her...

Here is my broody hen "Meanie" in her new digs....She is on day 15 now, so it won't be too long now.....and they have space to grow up in there quite a bit until I need to move them to a big pen.

We moved my 21 young chicks- 4-6 week olds, out to a big pen this afternoon, and took "Meanie" the Broody hen out with her eggs and put her into the portable chicken tractor right outside our back door. She had a few min off of her eggs, pooed a big pile, ate and drank for maybe the 1st time in...

My 2nd Mandarin female is setting now! Yay! She's been on eggs most of this week, not sure what day she started...I may end up candling them in a few weeks to see what stage they're at and taking them to finish hatching indoor in my hovabator...I will have more brooder space freed up then and...
