    Unknown illness?

An update for anyone having similar issues with their hen in the future: She had an overgrowth of gram negative bacteria in her crop. So not the traditional sour crop that is an overgrowth of yeast. She was prescribed amoxicillin potassium and seems to be doing good only 3 days after she’s...

    Unknown illness?

I already scheduled an appointment with my local exotic vet. I trust my vet and they’ve been seeing my disabled duck for awhile but I’ll still go ahead and order a dewormer on my own just to be sure! I’m just wary of a bigger issue like possibly gut issues/crop issue that I can’t treat on my own

One lonely hen left. And she might be sick :(

Is she still eating? If she’s eating you can open the capsule and sprinkle it on to food. If she isn’t eating you can open the capsule, mix it with a small amount of water and syringe feed it to her

    Unknown illness?

My chicken has previously struggled with sour crop but now suddenly after she’s gotten better for the last month I noticed she’s been a little lethargic. Now she is quite lethargic and eating very little unless it’s snacks. Here are her symptoms: -Runny droppings -Poopy butt -Pale comb...

    What’s your indoor coop setup?

Not sure if this is the right forum and I know there is a lot of controversy on indoor chickens but let me start with that I’m not looking for opinions and I keep partial indoor outdoor bantams and I’m just looking for some coop ideas for when they sleep indoors! :) Anyone out there with an...

    Is this moldy hay

I wouldn’t do this. Mold grows throughout the substance before “blooming” at maturity. Until then it’s invisible to the naked eye and we don’t know how much the mold has actually grown throughout the hay before releasing buds! I just trash my moldy hay but if you’re having trouble with mold you...

George the rooster is in a bad mood...

Probably hormones! It is that time of year and I have noticed my little silkie rooster has been attacking my feet every chance he gets as it starts to warm up while during the entire winter he was a cuddle buddy. Roosters are so weird 😅

Week old ducklings going with newly hatched ducklings?

I’ve heard of this happening even without introducing as chicks. I think drakes will mate with anything they can no matter what… I guess it’s up to OP whether or not they’re sure they have drakes and if they would get rid of those drakes if they had some. I would not house drakes with hens in...

    Rooster Only Flock

Do your Roos only seem to be fighting at bedtime or also out during the day? If it was just at nighttime or the early morning when they first wake up in the coop I would just suggest separate sleeping crates however I’m not sure if this problem also extends to the entire day

I think it needs to be done during a certain age? Correct me if I’m wrong though

Both my roosters are wimps 😂

    Rooster Only Flock

That’s so strange because I actually do keep a two rooster bachelor pad! It has gone wonderfully but it also may have to do with the fact they grew up together since chicks. They’re inseparable and will not even follow the hens when I let them all free roam, they rather follow each other. They...

What is the ideal watering interval for potatoes?

Potatoes might be susceptible to root rot though I’m not a potato expert haha! I keep indoor tropical plants but from my experience you can try sticking your finger about a whole index finger length into the soil to feel if it’s dry. If it’s still wet, hold off on watering. Try to only water...
