Spoke to Elanco regarding Elector PSP

Any updates on this? I'm battling mites too and have Elector PSP on the way but I've never used it before. Reading that you got more mites after using it is concerning to me.

Anyone tried a handheld steamer to get rid of mites in a coop?

Okay, I'll follow up in a few weeks. Yep, I was thinking of steaming and then spraying with Permethrin. I have Elector PSP coming so I may try that too if the mites come back.

Anyone tried a handheld steamer to get rid of mites in a coop?

I have an extension out to the coop since we have an automatic door and I'm thinking of using heat somehow to get rid of mites. I have a handheld steamer I use on furniture and things I can't wash when my dog has fleas. Has anyone tried this to get rid of mites? I'm just not sure if the steamer...

    Elector PSP?

I found mites on my hens a few weeks ago and I sprayed them twice with Permethrin about 10 days apart and cleaned and sprayed the coop and my yard, but they still have mites. I think it's the Northern Fowl Mites but I think a red mite crawled on me yesterday. I just ordered a small batch of...

Logistics of spraying chickens with permethrin

Ahh yes, I forgot to mention that spraying the coop included cleaning it. The only shavings I used are in their nesting boxes. I used top soil under their roost. I also forgot I had some old dog crates so I just put the chickens there when I was spraying their coop and it worked out.

Logistics of spraying chickens with permethrin

I went away for the long weekend and when I came back one of my hens were broody. I picked her up off the nesting box and lo and behold, she left a bunch of mites on my arm. I'm planning on spraying the chickens and the coop tomorrow morning but I'm struggling to figure out the logistics...

What to do about this small area where a rat is getting in?

Thanks, Al. I'm currently dealing with a different issue right now (mites) and will have to revisit this when I have time.

What to do about this small area where a rat is getting in?

Hi Al, Here are some pictures. Do you need a photo of the spring more close up than these? I bought it in December 2021.

What to do about this small area where a rat is getting in?

Hi Al, I actually bought your feeder. It's the one in your avatar, or the option that's a little bigger.

What to do about this small area where a rat is getting in?

Yes, very difficult! This humane rat trap worked at first (https://a.co/d/7xh0zZp) but after a few times the rats figured it out and no one would fall for it anymore. I've tried the buckets too but I've been killing more birds than rats so I don't want to use those traps anymore.

What to do about this small area where a rat is getting in?

I just saw this tonight when I looked through the window... We made two coops, one for our smaller hen who was getting pecked on. I used what we had, which were these garden gates, but I lined the floor with hardware cloth, and they don't work together very well. That's why there's a small...

Hen's vent has been dirty for some time.

My smallest hen is almost 4 years old, weighs about 3 pounds and has her separate coop from the other hens because she was bullied. She currently sleeps in a repurposed dog house in wood shavings since the space is too small to build a roosting area and seems to thrive in her own space. The...

Rooster's crow is hoarse after worming

One of the tip of his comb is still purple but he seems fine otherwise. His crow is back to normal. I put him on Denaguard for 3 days.

Rooster's crow is hoarse after worming

I used Valbazen. I thought he could have aspirated too, but I wasn't sure if that would've been more on the spot then gradual. I was trying to be careful and placed a little bit of medicine at a time at the bottom of his beak. I've done it like that before and he was fine. I think the stress...

Rooster's crow is hoarse after worming

I wormed my chickens on Tuesday morning and yesterday, I noticed my rooster's crow was hoarse. I have an automatic door set to close at a certain time and he stayed out past that, which has never happened before. I'm wondering if him staying out in the open air caused some sort of respiratory...
