    I have seen my flock tree a squirrel and wait 3 hours for it (I got bored and went inside). Found a squirrel tail the next day in the hen house. winters are the worst for other birds, plenty of food in the run and just too tempting for songbirds.

    Good birds that I have found to be a solid foundation or core for the flock. Dependability of egg production is a huge perk. Helps that one of the hens, Rocky, has attached herself to me as well and follows me around the yard.
