Her first hatch babies are only 10 weeks old and she is already setting again. I gave her 8 eggs. 8 more chickens I don’t really need. Chicken math, I started out with 15 in March, hatched 4 plus hatched 11 = 30 now she has 8 eggs. Lol
My husband and I had a nice south side, metal roof porch once totally open on 3 sides. It constantly dripped. It was also so hot to set on because the heat just radiated off the roof. We moved away, but when we came back I told him no more metal. We now have a wood roof with shingles.
I have 12 hens 3 roosters. One of my rooster is a bantam rooster. They all live together on 1 acre. I have a hen that’s hatched out 11 but they are in nursery coop and these live in another coop. They younger chickens have to have tunnels to roam in because the hawks have been so bad lately and...
Could you tell me what you see to think that? I’ve been looking at the waddles if that’s what they are called. He developed them quickly more so than the others. Crying I already have 3 roosters. Soon I will be looking for him a new home
It’s funny, but lots of time when others post pics of their chicks I can sometimes tell the gender. But with my own chicks I’m in denial and can’t tell. I think mine are all pallets. They turned 8 weeks old yesterday. Can someone please help confirm my blessing of all pullets? Thank you
My hen has hatched a day early or maybe I just counted wrong. but I don’t have any chickens like this. I do have hybrid so what I’m finding in hatching anything is possible. Also it could be from any of 3 roosters I have, all different. Yes she’s 100% mutt! But I have seen baby chicks that look...
The first day was kinda brutal for the mama. Several of the hens was fighting her. I had to save her a few times. So I just closed nursery back up after about an hour. I’ve open the coop for 2 mornings and she is still picked on but she runs back away from the rest of the flock. So far the flock...
Thank you, Mrs K. I worry about the flying predators catching them in the daytime. We have lots of hawks that catch them if they are small. That’s why I try to keep them penned up until they are bigger. My adult birds free range from 730am till dark or they put themselves to bed. I’m guessing...
I was planning on just moving them to main coop leaving then pen up in there for 1 week like I did the first flock then let them be free to roam after. My first flock of 18 I raised them like this and there was 2 roosters that stood a nursery everyday all day and when I released them the...
Yes I could put up fence inside but only one would have access to the tunnel. I also don’t know how much longer the first hen will be with her chicks. By the time the second hen hatched the first chickens will be 5 weeks old already.
