I was told that I was giving my chickens too much room. However, they cannot always free range( a family of foxes and a couple of coyotes). So I fenced off a 30' X 30' area. Maybe overkill, but my 9 chickens seem to love it. So, I agree, more is better than less.

Hmm...had not thought of that....may have to reconsider my options if one of those rascals gets thru my predator proofing.

It could be that I live in a city and the authorities frown upon anyone using a firearm inside the city limits.

How often do you give your chicks the fermented feed?

We are not allowed to kill raccoons where I live--they have to be relocated. So, I buried my fence approximately 4" and also put fencing over top of my run. So far that has kept the racoons, hawks, and falcon away from my chicks. The only time they free range is when I'm outside with them.
