I'm not just blindly going for it with nothing but corn without advice from people who have done it but I agree, chick starter has not been around long, so table scraps and other meat/fish products might work. Thank you.

The point of this post was advice and not simply to just go for it and see what happens. Nobody wants to pay $2 per bird after shipping, feed them for months, and then fail and be out all that money. Just blindly going for it makes no sense and defeats the purpose of the post.

but it's still expensive and I will not get away with paying around $20 per chicken to raise them--even with this feed. It's not feasible to raise a chicken paying $20-25 just to eat it. I was hoping to find a cheaper route.

I want them to be able to free range in the huge pen. They are in mobile pen right now and it's costing me way too much in feed. 700 feet is not near enough for 70 chickens to free range. The pen size is not the question. The question is that I have found a safe spot--safe from chicken...

I need to move my chicken house: Where we had it they were getting picked off by chicken hawks so we moved it to an open field but they were miserable in the heat and hid under the trees at the edge of the field most of the day. That was last summer. This year, we need to move it before summer...

9-10 pullets is great. The complaint above was they have something like 7-8/10 are MALES...that's not ok for a company to do.

And you do not owe anyone commenting a picture of your receipt or birds....I can't believe that anyone would ask something like that as if you don't know what you ordered and don't know what a roosters looks like.

I have never ordered from Sand Hill Preservation Center....but I want to. I was reading the few reviews on here about it...and also other sites. When I read a review, someone said they got Mycoplasma from Sand Hill. Now, I can't find that review and I am wondering if anyone has gotten a disease...

What breeds did you donate to him? I am very interested in rare breeds of chickens and I would like to order something rare.
