Battling Bumblefoot. Vet has cleaned it once so far

After months of trouble, knowing we couldn't do anything, we were left with two options: Amputate the leg, or let it be and see what it does. By some miracle, the nodule of infection just stopped growing and receded about 90% over a few months. She's totally fine now for the most part. No...

90 days of an infection with no progress - I need help....

The really weird part is that her once perfect toe had the middle bone just vaporized by whatever the inital infection was. That part has stumped the Dr. right away fearing it was a tumor or cancer. would a tumor show up on an x-ray? I wonder. But the fact that it's still infected and not going...

is that an antibiotic cream? If so, her infection is inside her foot, nothing is on the exterior currently. Only when the DR has lanced the swelling to drain it and then for a week after (in which she's been on injectable anti-biotics. I mean, I'll try it! I don't want to lost her!

90 days of an infection with no progress - I need help....

She is almost two years old and they free range in my backyard. They are given a all-flock feed and oyster shell. There are 3 ducks and 4 chickens total. She is eating, and she's actually still trying to assert herself against the others, but she loses. Dr. did mention a virus, but she has no...

90 days of an infection with no progress - I need help....

There is no wound. The wounds were created by the dr to drain. I would drain the fluid once a day during an epsom soak and bandage change. This originally presented without a wound at all. It's been internal to her joint. She was bandaged off and on for the last 10 weeks depending on if a...

90 days of an infection with no progress - I need help....

I had another post about what we thought was bumblefoot, but it is not. I am desperate for help as euthenasia is now the only course of action I see to prevent her from suffering and getting worse. An now the other chickens are hurting her(she's been separated). There are pictures on the other...

Battling Bumblefoot. Vet has cleaned it once so far

I don't know who to ask for help regarding our poor baby. A new round of antibiotics (stronger one) did NOTHING for the swelling seen above. The Vet is confused as to what this could be, and he's even been talking to a poultry specialist in our area. This is not bumblefoot for sure. No culture...

Battling Bumblefoot. Vet has cleaned it once so far

So just an update. After the amputation, the swelling came back and moved to back of her foot. We spent 2 weeks draining grey goo out and she was already on the 3rd around of antibiotics. We've sent TWO cultures to the lab, but NOTHING grew. She's now on a new antibiotic, but the swelling...

Battling Bumblefoot. Vet has cleaned it once so far

It's been stressful. It's also been expensive, but I don't care. She's a member of my family and we love her very much. I just want to make sure I'm doing the best I can to help her without letting her suffer. But the swelling is really bad, and I don't know how long the culture is going to...

So we got her in to the Vet and it's not the tumor, but a nasty abscess. Anti-biotics aren't working so they drained it and send off a culture to a lab. She's in good spirits though. Considering.

It looks like the tumor has spread to her main joint on her foot. I'm pretty sure a chicken can't live without a foot so I've begun to accept that our dear, sweet Patpat is on borrowed time. Her limp has gotten worse, but she's still eating and drinking. I just don't know what to do. . . . . .

She's already stopped using the toe, so the Dr will amputate Thursday morning. My heart aches every day she had been uncomfortable. She's lost some weight.

We've been soaking it for 10 min before we change bandage. Should I probably try more soaking?

Battling Bumblefoot. Vet has cleaned it once so far

Hey all - We've been battling some bulmblefoot in one of our girls for the last month. She's about 2 weeks after the vet lanced and drained it (from the top, there was no plug). And she's done with antibiotics but it looks like it's still swollen a lot. I feel like it's much worse. Have not...
