    Is this pullet a rooster? Four months old now. My understanding is that these ones can be hard to tell but signs are pointing to yes…no crowing yet (don’t think). Thanks for your help! Or, should I just be patient ☺️.

    Thanks everyone! We tried briefly tonight and bailed, haha. She took to it at first and the littles got cozy quickly - I couldn’t even see them under there - but then we took the eggs away and mom seemed bewildered. We might try again tomorrow, but we have the brooder set up in the house anyway...

    How high is the risk of chicks dying if they don’t bond right away? Like if they’re rejected will she kill them or just kick them out from under her? Mine are 2 days old for me and picked them up at a farm store so probably more like 4-5??.

    Thanks everyone!! I am leaning towards the Mayan hybrid for sure. I had a crossbeak EE once upon a time and understand that’s common - I’m sure not all four but I’m still hesitant.

    I have a mixed flock! 2 CA Whites, 2 RIR, 2 Lavendar Orps, 2 Australorps, and an older hen mix I’m not sure of. I have almost all pale brown eggs. The RIR and the mix are a bit darker. Thanks for asking!
