my local exotic animal vets are quite expensive. I paid $20 for the bunny, $400 for the spay and More than $1100 treating her when she poked her eye with a cage wire
how am I? warranty issue fixed. As long as it holds water overnight, I'm happy. The rest needs work, but one thing at a time. Still no eggs. But 4 hens are alive.
I am buying eggs at the grocery store. I think I bought the wrong hens a couple of years ago. Lavender Americauna and Barnevelder. 2 of the 3 Barnevelder died on me, the remaining one is a sweet hen who has laid 3 eggs back in October. our vicious heat killed the other 2, there was just no way...
I use Primal Defense, loose powder or powder in capsules available on amazon. I give it to rabbits, chickens, dogs cats and me as needed. powder stirred into yogurt or something smooshy goes well
Rooster going after a kid is not ok. When i have an iffy rooster i hand the kid a piece of half inch pvc a couple feet long with instructions only to use if rooster starts to chase them. If one gives me trouble i carry a pvc pipe like a walking stick between my old roo and i, reminding him I'm...
I haven't. But I do have antibiotic eye drops, and while they were prescribed to a cat I'm betting they won't hurt a chicken. for now just using yarrow eye drops.
She can see out of one eye. she aims about an inch to the left of a grape, which means she doesn't get the grape. continuing eye drops when I can catch her
very well ventilated, very dry, we are in drought, no odor of ammonia, but there certainly is dust. Coop was built to shed heat - windows on all 4 sides with half inch hardware cloth, higher than the perch, front and side door open. Only place not ventilated is the nest box
the other hens eyes all look normal, just the one. I'm going to try the yarrow drops - had to go get an eye dropper. I know the cat found the antibiotic drops bothersome, not sure if they hurt or he just doesn't like eyedrops
