Canning story. Way back 40s and 50s and into early 70s mom used open kettle method for tomatoes. A no longer used method. She said when she was pregnant all her canned tomatoes spoiled. Carburetor for stringer came in the mail late yesterday. Put it on this morning and runs great. Hard to beat $9 repair. -

Picked 2 persimmons yesterday and still a little pucker. Let them ripen more indoors. Meader variety. Can be seedless but a few seeds sometimes. Produces a few male flowers. No wild ones in my area. -

Often store tomatoes are greenhouse raised. Parthenocarpy is preferred for greenhouse growing. No pollination worries. Still pollination occurs but they do not want to take chances. -

Result of poor pollination, I think. Narrow in the middle. Seeds would be in both ends. I hand pollinated. Another failed parthenocarpy. 3 out of 5 plants.:( -

Ivy leafed morning glory grows wild here. Plant identifier says central America. Wild native sunchokes in bloom.
