Raising a bantam breed for conservation.

Hi everyone, I have a lot of experience with larger chickens, but I've never dealt with bantams before. I've been considering raising some Nankin chickens as a conservation effort, and since they are on the ALC's critical watch list. And so my questions are: 1. Where can I find resources on...

    OMG, She's laying an egg!!!

If it has an antibiotic in the feed, I would wait at least a couple weeks. Again I've never used it before so I'm not sure, maybe someone else has and might be able to help us both on this topic.

Also, when you buy layer ration for them, I recommend pellets over crumbles because they tend to waste a lot if it's in crumble form. Tractor Supply co. sells both kinds.

I've never used medicated feed before, but you should be able to eat the eggs a few days after you switch feeds.

CONGRATULATIONS! You can start them on layer ration at this age and it won't hurt them, oyster shells won't be a problem either.

Remember that she will try and find a safe place to lay it so be careful about hanging around the nesting boxes too much as that might discourage her. You...

INCUBATING w/FRIENDS! w/Sally Sunshine Shipped Eggs No problem!

Hi all! Haven't been on BYC in a long while since I sold my chickens a year ago. We bought 75 New Hampshire Reds earlier this year (now down to 70) so I can gladly say we're back in business! About a year and a half ago I hatched off approx. 250+ ducks, 3 geese, and 600+ chicks throughout the...

    Incubating help

I've never used a Brinsea incubator before, but it should periodically display the current humidity inside the incubator (should be 50-55% during this stage if I remember correctly). If your incubator doesn't display humidity levels, I would DEFINITELY suggest you buy a hygrometer. Hope this helps!
