I would stick to giving them duck feed (if that's what you mean in "I don't really wanna do the purina" :)) since it works well in giving them all the nutrients they generally need.

My female quail stopped laying at 2.5 - 3 years old, and I got rid of my males at 2 years old.
I would get rid of both females and males before the 2 year mark.
Hi! A friend had this problem with a chicken: the chicken isn’t broody - she’s not sitting on the eggs. She’s more like, “If I can’t keep my eggs, you’re not getting them!” She comes running to the nest box anytime she sees us walking up to the coop (so if she’s outside, she comes racing in)...
No problem! Sometimes, I can't resist putting the ducklings together as soon as possible, too. I would just let it sleep. Normally, it should be up and about the next day.
It should be ok since it just hatched, but check again in a few hours. Next time, try keeping it in the incubator until it is all dry. Make sure your brooder has a heat lamp or plate to keep it warm.
If you like, you could keep it on a little towel in the brooder so it could rest. Looks cute! :love
I think you can raise chickens in all of those places if they're suitable - I mean, with all the necessities like food, water, and a space to roam. I live in a city/suburb and keep chickens in my backyard, and they're happy and healthy. One of my friends who has chickens lives in a 'county...
