I'm just a woman who wanted a farm full of animals as a young girl of 5 years old! Now with my husband (Lee) and our kiddos, we're working on making my dreams come true... While I also make time for activities my husband enjoys as well as our kids and I, such as traveling, hiking / foraging, hunting and fishing.
Sadly, I still work off the homestead, since were still not as far along in our homestead / farmstead as I would have hoped for... However, we haven't given up!! Currently (July of 2023) Lee (he's the builder / muscle) is building more enclosures for our coturnix quail were really growing our flock right now, to be ready for next year to start selling eating & hatching eggs, as well as live birds & possibly frozen birds as well. While we still have our other animals, chickens, ducks, guinea, kunekune, dairy goats. Our goal for 2024 / 2025 is to be selling coturnix quail as a good income source in the hopes to "retire" me from retail. I'd much rather spend my time with my family, as well as gardening, foraging, and raising quality livestock for others in the future than continue to work for someone else in retail. I want the freedom for myself and my family but to show my children that you don't have to work for someone else to live a thriving, self-sufficient life!!
