    Got my goslings today!

I can't believe how big they have gotten. Julie, my avatar is a brown chinese. He is five and a half weeks old now and we call him Big Bird. If I vent sexed Big Bird correctly it's a she but it acts more like a gander so I will have to wait to be sure. I am still new to vent sexing so I am...

Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

Welcome to Elisi and Vicky. I had to read four pages to catch up this morning. Nice pictures Celtic. It will be interesting to check out the different colors. Amy's eggs are all I have that are Sebbies. Maybe next spring I can branch out to some of the other people's eggs to get a good mix...

Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

This morning I have three pipped eggs. I am also hoping I get a splash from Amy's eggs. They are very pretty with that type of marking. Sista, I would love to see how your spotted geese come out as well. Congrats on your hatches. I currently have three bators running. One with high humidity...

Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

Oh that is wonderful. Such great pictures. I have one egg internally pipped. I am glad to hear that Amy's geese are strong stock as I have six of her eggs in the bator on day three. She didn't know if they were Sebbies or Troulouse and I wanted Sebbies so she sent me six so that I would...

Oh wow, great picture! All of you are doing great! I candled last night and the air cells in my eggs have all dipped and I could see movement in all of them. I could see the baby's beak in two of them, but when my daughter and I listened to them we couldn't hear anything yet. Only a couple...

    Raising Geese?

Oh sorry, I meant game bird not wild bird.

Oh NO! my goose eggs aren't fertile!

My brown Chinese has been laying since December as well and is still laying. I am guessing around the end of May or the first part of June she will stop laying if she doesn't go broody.

Sorry to hear about your eggs Marty. I can empathize. It is hard to start eggs that just don't have a chance. You are looking for some cute babies and all you end up with are bad eggs. So disappointing.

    Raising Geese?

When I first acquired my geese I really didn't know what to feed the babies. Get a wild bird starter and put some greens in your food processor and feed this in it's own bowl. They love all types of lettuces, cabbage, celery leaves, and grass of course. I didn't have any success with mustard...

Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

r4eboxer, That is great so we are hatching buddies now that we are both on the same day. No I don't provide food and water but it isn't very far away (maybe eight feet or so). I watched them pretty closely today and one was on the nest until in the early afternoon. Temps here were in the...

    What breed is this?

Look kind of like my brown Chinese babies. Watch them as they get older they will get a knob at the back area of their beak if they are the Chinese or African. Another possibility would be Troulouse but the females have orange beaks and the males black beaks. I am not too familiar with other...
