We had the egg turner still going, and the humidity hadn't pumped up yet, we were planning on doing that today since we hadn't expected any chicks. So now it's hat he's, we were going to remove the other eggs from the egg turner (there are 38, so it will take us a couple minutes) but the chick...
Not on wood shavings. They are on a wire floor with a tray to let them rest their feet. It has soft dirt in it, but I heard that they would eat little bits like grit
Mine do that often. Sometimes they are telling another chick to get off them, but most of the time it seems like an experiment to see how much noise they can make! We have lots of chicks in different brooders and sometimes when one makes this noise all the others go quite. Maybe they are trying...

We have around 200 chicks right now, a variety of cornish, polish, frizzles, Silkies, sapphire gems, and more. Most of them are about 5 days old, and they are dying left and right. We can't figure out why. We have raised 100s of chicks with no problems. Are other people having problems? Or is it...
Our chickens have had frostbite (doing all we can to avoid it again) and normally it is on the tips of the comb and it is kinda blueish grayish. That looks like a peck or scratch wound. I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets worse. Vaseline should be fine, but if you are worried about pecking...
