I still appreciate the help. My grandma currently has 40 quail eggs in incubation and I'm sure she will hatch plenty more chickens. All of the help makes me feel very prepared in case of another situation like blinks
Yes by the end of blinks life his eyes and sight were not my biggest concerns. I wouldve been willing to care for him his whole life if i needed. All of this has still been very educational and I will know better how to handle and care for chickens in the future.
I just went to my grandma's and saw the quails and chickens that Blink hatched with and he was closer in size to the quails than the chickens. I assume he was just underdeveloped. I also found out my granny had to help him hatch out so really I think he didn't have much of a chance at all ...
Unfortunately blink passed away. I was holding him so he was not alone. Thank you so much for helping me and him. I only had him for a few days but he made a big impact on me. I'm glad he's not suffering anymore.
If I do something that bothers him I can get a reaction like a chirp or a movement but he's mostly limp. I think I'm gonna let him go on his own simply because it would eat me up inside worrying that there was something more I could've done or that he would've made it if I put him down.
So I've been holding him at my chest for around 2 hours. Around 15 minutes ago I put him in his cage to feed my bearded dragon. When I came back he was limp and I thought he was dead. Then I saw him blink a little and move his mouth. He's been like this since I got him back out. I did get a...
So this morning I went to check on him and he was alive but weaker than normal. I got him out and he wouldn't drink water on his own from the spoon like normal so I had to use an eye dropper. I also got some food into him. I set him on the ground and after a minute he spit up some water stuff...
He is pooping a few times a day. Sometimes it's more white with a little bit of brown but sometimes it's a good amount of brown. It's always a little watery
I'm pretty sure this is a crop issue. This most recent feed I put I tiny bit of pressure on it to check if that's what it is and bubbles came out of his mouth immediately. I had to pit him upside down so it would come out. It was pretty much clear but with like a brownish tint and some pieces of...
I was doing some digging and wondering if this could be something like sourcrop? Is that even possible in a chick this young. If so is there a way to treat it that wont hurt him if I'm wrong?
Ok I will continue the antibiotics. How often and for how long should I give them? So far he's gotten 2 doses. Is it something that should be given in doses or something that should be given in all the water he drinks? I have the same questions about the chik quik. I will try the little food...
I think the mucus issue is actually a problem with his crop not his lungs. After he drinks what I assume is his crop gets full of liquid and even slight pressure creates a weird noise with bubbles in the mouth and i have to bend him down so the mucus falls out and wont choke him. Is this...
Yesterday and today I've been putting plain neosporin around the eyes. I didn't put it directly in them though. I also was able to open them all the way and he has full eyes. They closed about halfway though so I assume they are still swollen. Is it possible for them to get air bubbles trapped...
