    Off And on for a year or so but no better no worse she’s never broody and does not hang around the nests.

    Her foot. They both look alike. The back of the legs look fine. I've done Dawn with a tooth brush, spray oil,. Vaseline several times. Help is welcome!

    Been trying to reply.....BYC acting up. Anyway, girl is 6 years old this Sept. I've done the Dawn soak, the oil soak and the tooth brush scrub and the Vaseline. Will post a pic as soon as I can.! thanks!

    Thank you! Quite shocking to learn this!:eek:I had no idea about Teflon being that toxic to chickens. I have not used it in years and only use cast iron and once in awhile stainless for cooking. Think I will exchange the spray for a pump type as suggested above.

    Very helpful thank you! Can you tell me when you can tell the leg mites are gone/ better? I've done the Vaseline at least 4 times and my BO's legs still look scaly on the front,:( ...which is where the problem is....They do look pretty healthy on the back though and her feet.

    so I bought this 5% permethrin spray today at Rural King. It is designated for clothing and found in the camping section. Says do not use on skin. I am hoping it is safe to use for scaly leg mites on one girl, and general bugs on a broody. Anyone have any experience with this? Seems less messy...

    thanks....here are some pics. The right side pic is normal. The left side pics show clogged , then after a couple squirts of saline and picking off the gunk.The slit looked ok from a glance. She was not a good patient and she would not hold still. sorry about the funky pics! Camera was acting...
