Does anyone have advice on training a dog not to snap or bite?

Its a whole thing. Not just breaking the nippy stuff. Dog needs a owner. You can be friends and that comes after being a master. If a dog growls and trys to bite you for taking something of his that's because he is confused on who is running the show and thinks there is a chance that he can...

what’s wrong with my goat’s hoof?

Those hooves look like they need to be trimmed. The nail is grown over in the back it looks to me. The hoof should be pretty much parallel. Other than that no idea.

Board of Health against quarantine (oh, the irony)

So strange. Like a different world. I really enjoy reading about how things work in different places and how polar opposite one place can be to the other.

    butchered my first chicken today

I know with our meat birds I watch the comb color and breathing. Darkening comb and heavy breathing are usually an indicator of some type of heart issue. I'm assuming the comb darkening is a result of blood oxygen levels dropping. Out of our 40 cornish cross run last spring we only lost one...

    Tractor supply or hatchery?

All I care about is weight on processing day and how many eggs they lay per week/month/year. I could care less if my chicken has a 3rd leg as long as she pulls her weight in eggs.

    Tractor supply or hatchery?

I agree 100% I told them I did not care if I had to wait for the birds, even weeks. and it would make sense sending them in a totally different direction than into a possible ice storm. I basically knew what was going to happen. I was angry. I let them know I was angry and that even though...

    Separate shoes for chicken run?

Im sure the talk is about bio security. I dont wear seperate shoes because I have not left our land in over 6 months. MY wife who has a town job changes her shoes in her car to even come on our land. She is the one in walking around town and in the feed stores. Works out fine she never has...

    Tractor supply or hatchery?

I guess it depends on if the tractor supply has the birds you want. I ordered through a hatchery last spring. A week or so before the scheduled delivery I called and said "weather service is predicting a ice storm on my delivery day, can we change the delivery day?" Response: "no we cant"...

Building coop and run, have a few questions.

Swamp cooling can be done cheap I'm on Phoenix craigs list and see them used for $50. Misting is fine but you need to deal with hard Queen Creek water, filtration because jets constantly plug and are expensive and the excessive moisture it creates just from small leaks. Also the smallet breeze...

Building coop and run, have a few questions.

We left San Tan Valley a few years ago and you and I both know there is no way to cool anything without air conditioning or swamp cooling. Reflective elastomeric roof coating do work but its just a piece of the puzzle. I dont like the idea of the clear skylights unless the coop is totally shaded...

    Anxious about soon-to-be egglayers

Glad they are working for you. Every few days I will pour the dust they create out into a separate bucket if its preventing it from feeding properly then just dump it back on the top of the new food. Virtually zero waste.

First time pyr owner! Any tips for keeping him in the yard?

OK? I don't know what to say. Congratulations? Like I said you do you. The OP will either figure it out or he wont. Glad you figured it out. I have also figured out a way that works for us and our small farm. Now I have to get back to pulling a 7.3 Powerstroke. Any advice on that?

First time pyr owner! Any tips for keeping him in the yard?

There is only one thing that dog trainers can agree on an that is the other one is doing it wrong. IMO you start leash training a LGD you end up with a pet, that ends up at a shelter because "it wont guard". You do you though.
