treating Vent Gleet in multiple Chickens

just wondering what the dose is for the acidophilus (either in food/water or direct oral dosing)? or could someone just use save-a-chick probiotics instead?

    Bumblefoot Advice

I have a pekin I'm treating for bumble foot. I've been soaking her foot in epsom salt and wrapping daily. The scab came off on 8/15 and I wrapped with PRID. Since the scab has opened, swelling went down a lot. She's on metacam, too. I'm including a photo, and am hoping someone can advise me if...

Swollen Foot in Khaki Campbell Drake

I'm unfortunately thinking that's where we're headed. I'm going back to school though, so I'm going to have to convince someone else to take him. We were hoping to avoid this because I set a "dangerous" precedent of taking my other drake there. They all deserve everything, but it's not practical...

Swollen Foot in Khaki Campbell Drake

No, because it's not the wings that are the problem. He kicks his feet.

Swollen Foot in Khaki Campbell Drake

@Miss Lydia @Isaac 0 So tomorrow is his last dose of Baytril. While the leg is better, it's no where near 100%. After the first 2-3 doses, I saw significant improvement in the swelling and the bruising disappeared. The swelling has not continued to decrease as I expected and was slightly more...

Swollen Foot in Khaki Campbell Drake

Update: So, I've been doing the best I can with him - even with two people, he flails his legs and I've been told "no" to the bath tub idea, though after seeing his foot today, I may push that further tomorrow. I have also been giving metacam. However, it looks significantly worse today and is...

Swollen Foot in Khaki Campbell Drake

Thank you. I did order the baytril, so once it comes in, I'll begin that. He seems to be limping less now, but the leg is a little more swollen. Fingers crossed the shipment gets here sooner rather than later!

Swollen Foot in Khaki Campbell Drake

@Isaac 0 @Miss Lydia today I think the swelling is slightly worse and it now feels warm. Any advice?

Swollen Foot in Khaki Campbell Drake

Thank you, I'm hoping he just twisted it or something. When I took my drake in over the summer for a swollen hock, the vet diagnosed him with an infected joint. He was on antibiotics and pain meds for several weeks. We did send out a culture, but no bacteria grew, so I guess we'll never know...

Swollen Foot in Khaki Campbell Drake

Hello all! A few days ago, I was out checking on my coops and saw that my Khaki Campbell drake (Puddles) is limping on his left leg. I caught him and saw that his foot is quite swollen. Photos of a comparison between his feet are below. My concern is that it’s the joint and I am worried about a...

    Blisters/Bumblefoot

Update: We did take her to the vet. It's a skin infection that hadn't reached her bone yet, thankfully. The vet herself (avian vet) wasn't sure where it could have come from. She's on clavamox and metacam and is much better. We have been continuing epsom salt soaks and then wiping with...

    Respiratory Infection

@casportpony Update: We've been doing tylan and were told by the vet to do so for 3 weeks. The 3 week mark will be on Monday. Overall, they're doing well. I still have one drake who is sneezing and he and a few others have foamy discharge from their eyes when I press on their sinuses. Should I...

    Blisters/Bumblefoot

Will do, thank you! I’m supposed to move into college in a week, so I may take her to the vet if it doesn’t improve a lot.

    Blisters/Bumblefoot

Last week (Wednesday) I was treating Matilda for bumblefoot and used tweezers to pull out some pus from her left foot. It bled a little and I started her on metacam that day. The next day, her foot was very swollen and red. I brought her inside and unwrapped her foot, since the bandage seemed to...
