Hello - I am in Tasmania too. Do you have Guinea Fowl?

    Indigenous Guinea Fowl rescued keet

No problem at all. These keets are a bit of a handful compared to chickens. I am on my fifth lot over 4 years and I learn something new each time! I love hearing about your little one. Such a treasure to have the 'one on one' with what is really a wild bird. I am sure it will grow into a lovely...

    Indigenous Guinea Fowl rescued keet

Yes - we have access to endless lawn and paddock, so I am digging up shallow patches of it and putting it into their enclosure. They really love it, it causes great excitement, and it is reduced to almost nothing after an hour or so - along with much excited twittering.

Savage mini dinosaur - a day in the life of a keet.

I posted some info about giving access to a mirror. Mine are in a confined space and they just love the mirror. I have only three keets, two weeks old at the moment and they LOVE the mirror. Twittering and talking to the other birds that they cannot reach!

    Indigenous Guinea Fowl rescued keet

Hello! I just had a thought. If your keet is lonely - they just LOVE having a mirror - either in their 'Home' or somewhere they can look at themselves. Mine spend hours twittering at their 'friends' in the mirror. I am trying to keep them busy, until they are big enough to go outside into their...

Any Guinea Fowl addicts in Tasmania, Australia?

I am in Tasmania, Australia, South of Hobart. I have a small flock of Guinea Fowl - at the moment 8 adults and 3 keets. All 'Lavenders' I just love them. They are no trouble to look after and their antics are so funny. I just wish they were better mothers. As they are free ranging on 4 acres...

Owner of a small flock of Guinea Fowl - all 'Lavenders'

Hello again. I was wondering if I could ask if there are any other Guinea Fowl addicts out there in Tasmania. We are at the bottom end of the world here - next stop Antarctica - and it would be great to know about others not too far away... Thanks Patricia

Help! Has anyone ever successfully moved a guinea flock?

I guess it depends on the location you are in. I have never had any grown up birds attacked. I also suppose that I don't have that many to attract attention. There are a lot of wild rabbits about, so I think they are the main targets...

Help! Has anyone ever successfully moved a guinea flock?

Do you not have a big enough tree for them to roost in? Mine automatically went for a tree that they picked out and have never abandoned it as their roosting place...

Savage mini dinosaur - a day in the life of a keet.

What a lovely story - please keep us informed as to the progress of your keet. I am in the country in Tasmania, Australia and in my fifth year of rescuing keets from the 4 acre garden. The mothers and fathers, which are pets, just wander off and if I don't pick the babies up, they get taken by...
