Review by 'Anonymous' in article 'Preparing hatching eggs for incubation, and hatching.'

Good info on how to select and store hatching eggs! Some of the pictures are broken, so you may want to take a look at that and fix them :)

    About Isabell Brahmas

Isabel in brahmas is lavender-diluted partridge, so if you wanted to breed some yourself, you'd have to cross lavender brahmas with partridge brahmas. And it would take two generations, since lavender is recessive, and black is dominant, so the first cross will produce just blacks. But if you...

    Duck breed ID help

They look like they might be silver swedish - looks like you have some black swedish and blue swedish. These would be the same breed, they just got two copies of the blue gene, so they're silver, and much lighter.

    BYC's 4th of July Star Spangled Hatch-Along

Wrong time of year :) Usually most emus are well done laying by now. HOWEVER. I have two older eggs left that I never did anything with. Hmm.

    Dead duck!

Do you know what antibiotic it was? Did the vet clean out and flush the abscess?

    Dead duck!

If the cause of death was the abscess, no, that's not contagious. An abscess is caused by infection in a wound or follicle, so that wouldn't be something that could spread.

Just wanna make sure everything is OK for goose egg

How is the egg doing now? You'll want to get it to a rehabber, because if and when it DOES fly away, it won't know where it's going. Canada geese need to learn the migration routes from their parents, or a flock they're introduced to by a rehabber. Ever seen the movie Fly Away Home? (If not...

    Traveling gossling

I don't want to derail the OP's thread, but did you read the thread I linked? Basically, while a goose can do okay with a flock of other birds, they will always be happier with a flock of their own kind. That is why I will always advise more than one. Not being judgemental, just telling people...

    The Quack Shack

So sorry to hear this :( Sounds to me like the turkey vultures are being drawn in - I hate to say it, but if the attack was Saturday and they all started showing up on Sunday, it's likely that somewhere a carcass is attracting them.

Review by 'Pyxis' in article 'Bumble Foot Treatment'

Has good info, but could use some formatting like article sections and paragraph breaks. It also needs pictures - you're allowed to use any pictures on BYC, so you can find pictures and add them. It's nice to get the picture owner's permission first, but posting a picture on BYC gives BYC...
