They look like they might be silver swedish - looks like you have some black swedish and blue swedish. These would be the same breed, they just got two copies of the blue gene, so they're silver, and much lighter.

Do you know what antibiotic it was? Did the vet clean out and flush the abscess?

If the cause of death was the abscess, no, that's not contagious. An abscess is caused by infection in a wound or follicle, so that wouldn't be something that could spread.

How is the egg doing now? You'll want to get it to a rehabber, because if and when it DOES fly away, it won't know where it's going. Canada geese need to learn the migration routes from their parents, or a flock they're introduced to by a rehabber. Ever seen the movie Fly Away Home? (If not...

I don't want to derail the OP's thread, but did you read the thread I linked? Basically, while a goose can do okay with a flock of other birds, they will always be happier with a flock of their own kind. That is why I will always advise more than one. Not being judgemental, just telling people...

So sorry to hear this :( Sounds to me like the turkey vultures are being drawn in - I hate to say it, but if the attack was Saturday and they all started showing up on Sunday, it's likely that somewhere a carcass is attracting them.
