How to prepare coop with gravel floor?

I put my ducks in a 12x12 horse stall with a gravel floor because of the low temperatures. I lined it with straw and they are doing well. It's available, so we're thinking about making this the "winter coop" but we have concerns about managing the cleaning and more: The gravel is about three...

Keeping in Coop for Extended Period?

They seem to be doing okay, but I think they might be stressed a bit after not being outside or in their regular coop. They'll eat the peas that we throw to them for a snack, but they have hardly touched their regular food in three days. We tried pellets and crumble.

Keeping in Coop for Extended Period?

It's cold out! Below 20 degrees most days this week and near zero at night. My three ducks were clearly cold outside and their coop is only 4x6 so I put them inside of a 12x12 horse stall lined with straw. There's no wind but there's enough ventilation. They are doing fine in there. There is one...

    You think this will work?

I ended up having to remove infection a second time. It looks much better now and I'll probably remove the bandage for good this evening. It took about ten days to heal after the second effort.

Opinions on Putting my Ducklings in The Coop Tonight?

I have only had ducks for a year, but everything I read said that ducklings can't regulate their body temperature until they are fully feathered. I kept mine under heat lamps (gradually backing them off) until they got all of their feathers.

Let the antibiotics work? Or do I have to go in again? (bumblefoot complications)

I finished the antibiotics and waited a few more days, but it became apparent that it was still bumblefoot. Yesterday, I did a second removal and I think it went well. It's too early to tell for sure, but I thought it looked much better today than it did the day after the last time I did it. I'm...

Day after bumblefoot surgery: does this look okay?

Ten days later now. I'll post two pics of the scab progression over the past three days. It's still swollen and it appears the scab is starting to come off. Does this look right for ten days after? I'm concerned about the swelling. She is walking almost totally normal (maybe only affected by the...

Let the antibiotics work? Or do I have to go in again? (bumblefoot complications)

Five days ago, I removed bumblefoot infection from my duck. It seemed to go well and that all the infection came out. The next day it was swollen. Initially, it looked like it was starting to heal, but it stayed swollen. More recently, it began to look infected again so I started amoxicillin...

    Is this dosage right?

Thank you! I'll stick with it.

    Is this dosage right?

My duck has been having trouble recovering from bumblefoot removal and I have decided to resort to antibiotics. I'm giving a five pound duck 250 mg of amoxicillin twice a day (500 per day total). I plan to do this for 5-7 days depending on progress. I gave her the first pill today (right down...

Day after bumblefoot surgery: does this look okay?

It seems a little more swollen today. I'm not sure if it's healing or getting worse at this point. I spray with Vetericyn, cover with triple antibiotic, and wrap every day right now. Should I be doing anything else?

Day after bumblefoot surgery: does this look okay?

This is the third day after removal. It's still swollen and she limps, but as far as I can tell it looks like it is beginning to heal. If anyone thinks otherwise, please let me know. Thanks!

That makes me feel better. I'll keep an eye on it. Thank you!

Day after bumblefoot surgery: does this look okay?

She had Epsom salt soaks and PRID for four days, and then the infection seemed to come out pretty easily (about the size of a chickpea). I couldn't find any more. There was just a hole. I used peroxide, Vetericyn, and triple antibiotic before bandaging. That was yesterday. Today, I took a...

What's going on with this duck foot?

Thank you. I will try that. Do you think there are three spots there that I will need to take infection from? Two? Or is there one spot in particular that is definitely bumblefoot?
