There is a poultry auction about an hour north of my place, stuff can go for $2 or $8 a chicken, just depends. So it I would not have an issue selling surplus, just maybe an issue with prices on my surplus.

I have been thinking about doing a mix of turkeys and chickens and maybe a breeding trio of ducks or geese. I understand local markets vary place to place but is there much of a demand for heritage/dual purpose chickens like barred rocks?

If you don't mind me asking, what do charge per poult and how many do you sell per year. A breeding trio would eat around 900 pounds a year and I can buy feed in bulk at $8 a bag. That's 18 bags for a total of $144. At $5 a poult, it would take 28-30 poults to break even. Is this a reasonable...

Have not put eggs in it myself yet. Previous owner got over 80% hatch with trays stacked 3 or 4 high.

I have raised waterfowl on a game bird maintenance/oats/scratch grain mix and have not noticed a difference at all in egg...

Yes. I don't have the best set up for pheasants. When you say pheasants, do you mean just typical ring-neck or do you think ornamental breeds are profitable too? I know there may not be a lot of money in waterfowl but I enjoy them and I have the most knowledge on waterfowl

What if I could get a hold of some rare Show quailtiy Buff or Grey saddleback Pomeranians?

Is it profitable to breed and sell Geese? or maybe sell goslings/fertile eggs

Is there any money in breeding ducks? What if you can't find a large local market? Is selling at shows a viable way of selling and still making a profit?
