so i have this baby chick (serama i believe) who's eyes look a little different from the rest. i don't know how to describe it but it's subtly shaped different. maybe it wasn't formed correctly? anyways, when he sleeps, his eyes doesn't close fully. i think this has caused him to not be able to...
I did not brace the chick's legs. It just has never worked in my experience. I do the cup therapy for about 20-30 mins at a time then I take her out for a break. I repeat every hour or so. And I put the cup in the brooder with the other chicks! Once she was able to stand and walk on her own, I...
Update:
We have some progress! I guess all that fussing and fighting with me this morning helped strengthened her legs some. I found a narrower cup at the store today and plopped her in and she was able to support herself while leaning against it!
So my dad somehow always acquires baby chicks from some random guy he knows. This batch by far has been the prettiest imo. They look like Thai game? I've never seen one with such pretty patterns!
Now this baby and his twin below were abused which explains why they look like that :/ I think...
Hey yall, I had a chick hatch two days ago with leg issues. She was sitting on her butt and couldn't stand (her legs are not splayed widely, it just comes out in front of her). Today I decided to use the cup method (bandage and rubber band method didn't force her to stand so I decided to forgo...
Picture for comparison -- Tommy is so tiny! That's Trevor next to him (he's a week old) and Big Smoke's sleepy self below (2 days old, also looks like a tiny bear imo:lol:) [disclaimer: we don't know the genders and I didn't name them haha]
Hey thanks for checking in! I ended up picking up some Easter Eggers and did NOT expect them to be such giant babies! They taught him how to drink and eat from the feeders yay!! Plus they're SO friendly! Tommy was so scared and literally fought them:lol: He's since warmed up to them though and...
The crumble looks untouched but I definitely am hoping he’s eating a bit. And yes I have a small water reservoir in there for him. I will try leaving a wet mash overnight in a small container along with the crumbles on the floor
Yep I’ve tried pecking the food with my finger, putting the food on my finger, have tried placing the food in a container, on the brooder floor, and wet mash but hasn’t worked at all. Hopefully bringing in new chicks can help??
Tommy hatched on Thursday, I was out of town so family took care of him. He was just very sleepy for the first two days and didn't eat anything, which I've had previous chicks do but start eating or pecking at food by day 2-3. It is Day 4 and Tommy has NO INTEREST in the crumble. It's not...
