Hi all!
Not sure where to ask on this so used the general one.
I had 12 beautiful Australorps that have now dwindled to 3 who are now old maids and are longer laying...
(9 died by: one dropped as a chick by grandchild :(, neighbors dog got 4, dog "disappeared";). Other 3 by potential hawks...
Interesting. I don't if using a pooper scooper and 5 minutes seems realistic but that's my speed. I use straw so I can till it into the garden in the fall and spring. But anyway, I have a question:
How does it fare during the winter (< 0°F )?
Neat! Sadly I would have to buy three of them or use it three times for my salads. Also, the plastic melting issue they have is concerning. Thanks for sharing!
Wanted to add a variation and the results: They were done with about 1-3 day old eggs.
Placed eggs in room temperature water and brought to a boil and let sit for 15 minutes, covered. Then ran under cold water until the water temp was about in the 40s and then added ice. Waited for 5 minutes...
I just want to say that I did not come up with this on my own. Most steps has to be given credit to someone on Backyard Chickens forum. HOWEVER. Only one step was taken from each suggestion and then combined. That and I did a step or two of my own.

The first time I raised chicks in the house, I used shavings, after... 10 years, I ran out of chickens minus one (never had a rooster). They first time chicks with shavings were fine No complications and other than the smell when they got older, it was no big deal. This year, I was told that you...
My first guess by the description is weasel... What state? (Alabama.. sorry) Just wonder what type of predators you may have. An Opossum will do that too.

Mine are 9 weeks tomorrow and they all run to the corner and pigpile and burrow under the huddle one after the other. I let them out of the coop and a truck with a loud trailer bouncing and crashing around make s them bee line it for the corner. Unless they are hungry and thirsty then I'm the...
Sell them cheap and you can start a business. Sell them at $10 a pop plus the value of feed and extras (electrolytes, antibiotics, whatever is used) and charge shipping and handling (Packaging, etc.). I recommend a contract agreement stating if they die during shipping, its not your fault...
