    Does this vent look normal?

Thanks everyone. She still needs to be cleaned up. I gave her some coconut oil and put more neosporin on her vent. It’s still very red.

    Does this vent look normal?

This light Brahma chick just came in the mail yesterday. She had a very pasty butt which I cleaned off. While cleaning she pooped a lot but the inside looks very very red. I’ve raised 20+ chicks and have never seen a vent this shape or red like hers. I’ve cleaned her gently and added some...

Fowl Pox or just a scab?

I’m inclined to think these are just scabs but I’m not 100% sure. This hen has been getting attacked by my rooster relentlessly. I’ve separated them and she has been healing but I’m not sure if these scabs on her comb are from attacks or sickness The second picture is her comb last week when...

    Any Cream Legbar experts?

Thanks! I read something like that too. But then I looked at pictures of my first two cream legbars when they were chicks and there wasn’t any kind of spotting at all. Better safe than sorry. This particular tractor supply has given me 3 cockerels out of a batch of 9 “pullets” I bought. (All...

6 Cream Legbar Chicks- gender help, please!

I knew it. Tractor Supply has only these in a bin that says cream Legbar Pullets. So glad I passed on these. Thanks for the confirmation I actually bought 2 cream legbars from tractor supply last year and they definitely did not have any spots at all.

6 Cream Legbar Chicks- gender help, please!

Did the other three turn out to be female? Tractor supply has a pullet bin full of cream legbars that look exactly like those three, dark but with a white spot in the head. I put them back for fear they’re roosters.

    Any Cream Legbar experts?

This is great info! I just went to tractor supply and they had cream Legbar chicks. They’re such great chickens that I was about to buy four more! But I noticed that every single one had a white spot on the head. They did have the darker chipmunk looking stripe but that spot threw me off even...

Rooster is dividing our flock and picking on the original hens

This is exactly what’s happening here. My rooster who is only 6 months old is being vicious towards one hen, one of my original 6, which is 11 months old. He absolutely hates her. Pecked her neck raw. He’s in rooster jail right now and she is healing up nicely and has started laying again. I...

    Roosters: normal or aggressive?

That’s wild! I’m glad I saw it when it was happening and also that someone was willing to take the big boy, Sapphire Gem, quickly. My remaining rooster seems to be ok. He’s still chasing my Cream Legbar though, so I find myself running interference. He tries to chase my Rhode Island Reds and...

    Roosters: normal or aggressive?

Update: I’ve kept Cuddles (the more aggressive of the two) in rooster jail. Someone is willing to take him and he’ll be with his new owner tomorrow. Keeping Nugget (my prairie bluebell rooster). He is actually very well behaved when Cuddles is out of the picture and isn’t aggressive when...

    Roosters: normal or aggressive?
