Still have some hatching. Not many left to hatch. One or two may not hatch but some are pipped. By morning they out to be done. Over all I did have a decent hatch with silkies and White Bresse eggs.
I candled for the last time and removed 4 of the green eggs and none of the Bresse eggs. Silkies are bunking with the Green Eggs and the Bresse have an incubator to themselves. Now it's hurry up and wait.
The balance of mine are going into lock down tonight. I don't feel good about being gone out of town while some start hatching on Sunday. But they have done it without me before ok and maybe they will this time too. I'm going to use two incubators for hatching so they will not be as crowded...
My silkie eggs are in lock down and all candled great. I removed 4 of the dozen at day 9 or 10 and the rest made it just fine. Now if all will hatch and I get 4 pullets I'm on my way to a flock. More silkie eggs will be set in April Maybe but May for sure. I just need to figure out how many hens...
When I candled my Easter hatch eggs that are green it was a rude awakening how hard it would be to see the detail I'm used to seeing. I took one out and kept one I'm not sure of. Will not risk tossing out baby to be possibly.
Silkie eggs don't go into lock down until Thursday evening and the rest Friday Evening. Just finished a major hatch and need to get off my tired duff and clean and sterilize the incubators use as hatchers.
I pulled about 10 eggs altogether. Clears. No development whatsoever. The rest looked good. Really hated to lose that many and especially the 4 silkie eggs.
Mine that were due to hatch this weekend need to get down to business. Not a single pip yet. A lot of the eggs are from my Dark Cornish flock that have always pipped and zipped early but not this time. I'm hoping the Easter hatch is not this nerve wracking.
I have an inverter generator that I need to get setup. I can go without power for 3 hours with 2 large UPS backups but after than I need the generator. Once I get done with my after lunch nap I should get that generator going and make sure it is ready on a moments notice..
